Last week in California!

Hello everyone and happy Super Monday!
This week has had lots of exciting news for us but the most exciting is that we officially have a house waiting for us in Montana! It is a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath house with 2,300 square feet. I have no idea what we are going to do with all that space, especially because we definitely do not have that much stuff to fill the rooms! I am excited though because this means that I get to go shopping! This also means we need lots of visitors! We have two extra bedrooms and a couple blow up beds so come out and visit. I have heard wonderful things about how beautiful it is out there so.... hint hint family members..... we want to see you!

Also, if you would like our mailing address, text, call or email me with your address and I will get you ours.

This weekend was super full of excitement. On Saturday I got to see a little more of California when we headed up to Santa Maria. This town was a wonderful oasis for me because I got to experience two of my favorite things in life: Target and Olive Garden! I know, I know, we are in California and we should be experiencing local food but I missed Olive Garden! It was delicious, of course, however, the ones in Minnesota definitely give you a larger sample glass of wine! Just saying.... Target was also amazing and a sight for sore eyes because all we have here is Wal-Mart and I refuse to shop there. We also went to the mall in Santa Maria and oh my goodness! I have never seen so many children in a mall before. Each mom/parent had like 4 kids with them and at least one stroller! Wow! Well we got what we went there for: new running shoes for me! Now, I am not a huge runner but I will run the Zombie 5k again and we will survive this time! (cough, cough CLAIRE) So, I figured running shoes where the first step toward that goal. Also, I am on day 7 of Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 days (which is killing me!) and I need shoes for that! The drive home was absolutely beautiful although a little overcast. Everything was very green with lovely rolling hills.

Yesterday was the Superbowl and we went over to a friends house for a Superbowl party. We had a ton of fun and I was really happy to be able to meet the people we are going to Montana with! I made Franks buffalo chicken dip (delicious!) and brought my beloved Target wine in the cube. I am definitely looking forward to Montana now and excited to make new friends!

This week is going to be very busy with running errands and trying to get things done. All of our stuff gets packed up and shipped on Thursday and we are planning our route up north. Right now it looks like we will be stopping in Vegas, Salt Lake City, Helena and then heading to Great Falls! I am really looking forward to seeing so much of the country while driving!

Well, sorry for the long post but I hope that catches everyone up on our life! The laundry machine is calling me so I shall go finish my chores! More to come later! (hopefully more pictures too!)

Favor to ask!: I am going to be completely building my pantry from scratch up in Montana and I need suggestions! Please let me know what spices you use all the time or what is absolutely necessary to have for cooking so I don't end up buying a pound of turmeric and never using it!

  2. I’m so happy you’re posting :D But now I have many things to say:

1 – 2300 square feet house?! Are you kidding?!?!?! That’s huge!! First step – hit up thrift stores for photos and frames to hang on the walls. Furniture is expensive, so take your time finding that. But getting stuff to hang on the walls really makes a house feel like a home.

2 – YES, send me your mailing address. I found, perhaps the greatest house-warming gift EVER. Which yes, I will be buying multiples for myself … it’s that good.

3 – Wait, are we doing this Zombie 5k?! Let’s talk!

4 – Spices … hmmm … Mom had a pretty good list. I’d add garlic salt/garlic powder (great in soups and sauces). Cinnamon is a must (drinks and desserts). We get a couple different of those mixed seasonings … like lemon pepper, or “steak seasonings” and those are good catch-alls for when you need something but don’t know what to use.

5 – When are you guys heading north?! Roy and I are doing a quick road trip next weekend (over President’s Day) … it’d be fun if we were going at the same time!

    6 – Wanna do a Skype date?!
